Eoghan McNeill
Eoghan McNeill is Editor-in-Chief, Co-Founder and 33% owner of The Ditch.
McNeill came to TheDitch.ie via a position as an editorial consultant with Paddy Cosgrave’s Web Summit. A former singer, he worked as a journalist at the independent.ie for a period in 2014, before moving to work with the Web Summit between 2014 and 2017. He spent 2018 in Beijing, writing for the state-owned China Daily, the largest circulation English-language newspaper in China. He subsequently rejoined the Web Summit as an editorial consultant at a time when the summit was working with the US-based non-profit Whistleblower Aid. In that context, McNeill was part of the team which worked on the Chay Bowes story relating to Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s decision to share with the President of the National Association a draft version of a pay deal document the government was negotiating with the rival Irish Medical Organisation. According to McNeill, it was this experience that drove the decision to establish TheDitch.ie.
