Business Post Group Ltd.

In 2018, after purchasing the Sunday Business Post from Sunrise Media, Enda O’Coineen, together with Colm O’Reilly, formed the Business Post Group, with the aim of establishing a larger media group.
Subsequent acquisitions have included iQuest Events and Hospitality Expo, Irish Tatler Magazine, Food & Wine Magazine and Auto Ireland from publisher Irish Studio (which took a small stake in the Business Post Group as a result of the transaction). In September 2021, the Group acquired the Red C Polling company. In August 2023, the group paid £2.5m for UK-based Relish Research and the following month acquired the remaining 50pc of the share capital in Smart Speakers Ireland for €100,000. The company has also taken equity stakes in Belfast based tech events company Digital DNA, and diaspora engagement platform Tribe101.
More recently (2025) the Group acquired the Irish Management Institute from University College Cork, along with its 13 acre campus in South Dublin.
In sum, the Group has expanded beyond publishing into data, research events, and education. The Group sees these areas as strategically interconnected, describing acquisitions by its immediate parent company (the O’Coineen-led Kilcullen Kapital) as investments “in complementary businesses to create a modern, data-driven, and fully integrated media platform built around the Business Post brand”.
This reflects the Group’s moves to address the ongoing decline in print media circulation by moving from a weekly Sunday newspaper targeting a business to consumer audience to a business information and news service focused on a business to business audience.
In 2023, Swedish media group Bonnier News made a €6m minority investment (17.76%) in the group. Enda O’Coineen remains the majority shareholder (57.25%) through his investment vehicle Dun Aengus Invest Unlimited Company. According to the most recently submitted accounts (relating to 2023), the Group’s revenues fell to €8.3m (down from €8.6m in 2022) and losses increased from €359k to €552k over the same period.
